“I was having sex with Michael Ian Black in a sports shed,” Bradley Cooper admits when asked why he missed his graduation ceremony from Pace University. It’s not often you run across a Hollywood star who so willingly and publicly embraces his homosexual experiences like Coop does. It’s obviously one of his most fond memories as he recounts the occasion in interviews again and again. And again, and again. Most recently, during an interview with Esquire Magazine, he added new details:
I remember saying,” says Cooper, “‘What if we wear tube socks, and I’ll go up on the wall, and you’ll come from behind me.’ While we were having sex, I said, ‘Say my name,’ and Michael says, ‘Ben!’ And I say, ‘No! Say my Christian name,’ and he whispers, ‘Benjamin,’ and that’s when I came.”
What? The hunky start of The Hangover and it’s blockbuster sequel is a bottom to boot? No argument there. In an interview with The Advocate, responding to a question about “who was going to take it” the hunky blonde replied, “ There was never a question.”
No surprise, Coop admits he’s “the type of guy who falls in love fast.” alluding to a one-day bromance with Dax Shepard with whom he worked together on a movie called The Comebacks. Like a lot of people, Bradley often finds love in the workplace. Rumors surfaced that he and co-star Victor Garber were much more than co-stars while the couple stared on the ABC show Alias, an affair brought to light through a blind item appearing on a gossip web site that reported ‘the romance between the scruffy scamp and the song-and-dance man came to an abrupt end when the smooth operator’s spousal-equivalent found evidence of their illicit match’. Coop’s response when asked about their romance? “I think it’s awesome!” He also fondly recalls “ falling in love with Kevin Connolly” while working together.
With creds like that is no wonder Bradley warms Hollywood’s casting couch up often when a gay character needs filling. His chiseled ass landed the gay sex scene in Wet Hot American Summer and the homoerotic going-ons in Nip/Tuck. More recently he took it like the man he is to land a role playing a dude in love with a closet-case football player in Valentine’s Day.
On screen and off his dazzling smile, blue eyes, and hunky chest have proved to be a perfect match for his fellow actors. Actresses have not been as lucky. For a brief period in 2007 Bradley was married to actress Jennifer Esposito. But four months after saying, “I do,” he admitted he really didn’t and dumped the fish. TMZ reports one unsurprised onlooker said, ”Bradley Cooper is gay. He was gay all through college and he’s gay now. He had no business marrying a woman. I’m truly shocked he went through with the farce.”
Three years and several man on man love affairs later he tried the beard thing again, this time with Renee Zellweger, a relationship that lasted as long as both of their previous marriages had: four months. (Renee’s was to country music star Kenny Chesney, a future Gay of the Week honoree when we run out of ‘possibles’ and move on to ‘probables.’) Ya gotta feel a bit sorry for Renee and her record with men who want to be with men. But rumor says she’s turning her life around and looking forward to a new love life, eyeballing heartthrob Ricky Martin as a possible new conquest. Renee? Seriously babe: Ditch the strap on and you’ll attract a whole new different kind of man.
And Coop? He just laughs and then starts reminiscing about the good times and “having a naked Asian man’s testicles dangling in front of my neck forty to fifty times.”
What happens in Vegas may stay in Vegas, but ya know the boy must have had a grand old time filming The Hangover 2 in Bangkok. With a sly smile he told ET, “Bangkok sort of tops Las Vegas in a huge way,” Yeah Coop, we know what you mean.
